Gold and silver coins, lost treasure and gold nuggets! These are the things that piqued my interest while I was growing up. I read books and magazines and dreamed of the day I would uncover vast treasures buried by some stage coach robber or an early gold miner's cache.
20 years later I had saved up enough money to buy my first metal detector—a Bounty Hunter (which I still have) from the Montgomery Ward catalogue—to find my treasures. The lure of gold nuggets for me was strong and that has been my main focus for the last 25 years or so. It is still exciting to locate a nice gold nugget while out with a metal detector. I never get tired of looking and continue to search whenever I can.
